plants

Medicinal plants/herbals/botanicals are the most primitive form of medications on this planet. Whatever the form may be, plants continue to provide relief and serve as a rich source of pharmaceuticals even to this day. During this talk, we will learn about the source, clinical benefits, side effects, drug-drug and drug-disease interactions, cautions, and contraindications of some commonly known and used medicinal plants. The plants that will be discussed are: echinacea, ephedra, garlic, milk thistle, saw palmetto, ginseng, ginkgo, and St. John’s wort.
This virtual presentation by M. Nabeel Ghayur, PhD, Assistant Professor of Pharmacology at University of Pikeville, will be held on Thursday, May 27 at 6:00 on Zoom. It will be live streamed to the library’s Facebook page.
