It’s trauma season in Kentucky, a period of months in the summer when good times and good weather usher in an increase in severe, life-threatening injuries. Traumas like car accidents can have a major impact on the blood supply, and KBC is currently experiencing an increase in blood transfusions while donor turnout lags.

Blood transfusions are used for everything from cancer treatments to premature births, surgeries, anemia, diseases, car accidents and more. Without a healthy blood supply, local patients are at risk.
