Jannette is an award-winning Kentucky Crafted artist travelling from Princeton to present her Native American art, regalia clothing and music to our library. She is an enrolled member of the Four Winds Confederation, with a passion for preserving the culture, history and language of her Cherokee Ancestors, “ᎠᏂᏴᏫᏯ Aniyvwiya” (The Real People) through her colorful and contemporary art. Jannette’s acrylic paintings on canvas consist of a Cherokee word or phrase illustrated by an image. She enjoys challenging people to think about Native Americans in the present tense, rather than the past.
The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, supports Pike County Public Library District with state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.
