Cemetery Preservation Workshop

At the historic Dils Cemetery, Pikeville, KY
This FREE workshop on the basics of cemetery conservation will address common concerns in preservation and maintenance of cemeteries. Hands-on training and instruction will be led by Jonathan Appell of Atlas Preservation, Connecticut.
Workshops begins with a walk and talk tour which will survey the existing conditions including the oldest gravestones and most in need of conservation. Topics include: gravestone cleaning and demonstration, joining broken gravestone fragments, re-leveling a base stone, materials required and the process involved in replacing eroded or lost stone, and re-setting a tablet-stone.

3. Location: Dils Cemetery, 101 Chloe Road, Pikeville KY
4. Meet at the top of the steps ascending to the Dils Cemetery. Parking is available across the street at the Pikeville Fire Department, 104 Chloe Road
5. Workshop times: 9AM to 3PM, Monday, April 7 and Tuesday, April 8.
6. Wear clothes for working manually outside.
