Think silk and satin\, lights and cameras\, academy awards and sleek fashion at this vintage Hollywood themed event in downtown Pikeville.\nThis event is open to all high school and middle school students\, 12th grade down to mature 6th graders of the Spring 2024 school semester.\nTickets are $30 each or $50 per couple. In the event extra tickets remain\, door entry will be $35/person.\nThe theme is vintage Hollywood\, “A Night on the Red Carpet.”\nStudents will need to arrive by 5:30 to line up for Grand March at 6:00. Parents/friends/family will depart and prom will begin at 6:30.\nThis will be a formal event and formal attire is required. Also\, parents\, siblings\, and other family members are not permitted to stay after grand march unless they are a prior-approved chaperone. All chaperones will be screened and approved by our planning committee. No outside food or drinks are permitted at the event. DESCRIPTION:From Shaker Village to snake handlers\, the people of Kentucky have strong roots in their quest to worship. America’s first camp meeting was in Kentucky. The national headquarters for Race Track Chaplains boasts a home here. Kentucky was the stomping grounds of preacher Mordecai Ham\, the spiritual granddaddy of Billy Graham. And let’s not forget the Commonwealth has both a basilica with the world’s largest handmade stained-glass window and an abbey where monks live in contemplation and make fantastic fudge. This overview of the history of religion in Kentucky is told through stories and images.\nEastern Kentucky University professor Dr. Jacqueline Hamilton will present this lecture at the Pike County Public Library on May 21st at 5:30. No registration is required.\nThis program was funded in part by Kentucky Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
