DESCRIPTION:Professional storyteller and artist Thomas Freese will tell ghost stories and lead a Halloween-themed pop up card making workshop on October 15th at 5:00 at the Pike County Public Library (Lee Avenue). All ages welcome!\nThomas Freese is an accomplished artist in multiple disciplines—writing\, storytelling and visual art. Mr. Freese worked in the Arts in Education since 1994\, doing visual arts residencies in 100 locations across Kentucky. Since 1998\, Mr. Freese has written 130 articles for Lexington’s Chevy Chaser Magazine and published 7 books of ghost stories. He is currently completing a children’s book project. Mr. Freese has performed story programs for 15 years. He has over 20 story programs. When working with students\, Mr. Freese often combines his expertise to help children create works of art in the venues of writing\, storytelling and art. Mr. Freese relates well to children of all ages and uses guitar and harmonica to add to his stories.\nThe Kentucky Arts Council\, the state arts agency\, supports Pike County Public Library District with state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts

DESCRIPTION:Wayne Graham is a band from southeast Kentucky made up of two brothers\, Hayden and Kenny Miles. Their sound is eclectic yet familiar; a combination that resonates with young and old listeners alike. It has been said that they both are old souls and that comes through clearly in their music. The two brothers started making music together very early on. Growing up in a musical family\, they learned a little bit from everyone. They were involved in a couple of projects before they started Wayne Graham in 2010. They named the band after their grandfathers\, Wayne Miles and Graham Kincer. Our music is about family\, when you take a listen you become part of the story\, because we sing about the joys and trials that every family faces. Two brothers who play rock music from the mountains of Kentucky.

DESCRIPTION:tory Time is for children ages 5 and under and features books\, action/movement\, songs\, and a craft. Story Time is held Thursdays at 11:00 and 2:00 and Saturdays at 11:00. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nBesides being fun\, Story Time also helps develop early literacy and school readiness skills through reading\, singing\, listening\, playing\, and social interaction. This program lasts approximately 30 minutes\, and caregivers and children are encouraged to linger in the library afterwards to further socialize and choose books to take home.

DESCRIPTION:Since the early part of the 20th century\, Octavia Hatcher’s monument has watched over the city of Pikeville from the cemetery on the hill. Octavia’s brief marriage to prominent Pikeville businessman James Hatcher ended suddenly when she suffered an unknown illness that resulted in her being buried alive. This original\, tragic story of her life and death is a chilling account which may explain why many say her spirit walks the graveyard to this day.
