DESCRIPTION:Join Jannette Parent as she displays her Native American regalia and uses her colorful contemporary paintings to teach about the Cherokee language\, culture and beliefs.\nThis program will he held at the Pike County Public Library (Lee Avenue) on Saturday\, September 28 at 2:00. It is suitable for all ages\, and no registration is required.\nJannette is an award-winning Kentucky Crafted artist travelling from Princeton to present her Native American art\, regalia clothing and music to our library. She is an enrolled member of the Four Winds Confederation\, with a passion for preserving the culture\, history and language of her Cherokee Ancestors\, “ᎠᏂᏴᏫᏯ Aniyvwiya” (The Real People) through her colorful and contemporary art. Jannette’s acrylic paintings on canvas consist of a Cherokee word or phrase illustrated by an image. She enjoys challenging people to think about Native Americans in the present tense\, rather than the past.\nThe Kentucky Arts Council\, the state arts agency\, supports Pike County Public Library District with state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.

DESCRIPTION:tory Time is for children ages 5 and under and features books\, action/movement\, songs\, and a craft. Story Time is held Thursdays at 11:00 and 2:00 and Saturdays at 11:00. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nBesides being fun\, Story Time also helps develop early literacy and school readiness skills through reading\, singing\, listening\, playing\, and social interaction. This program lasts approximately 30 minutes\, and caregivers and children are encouraged to linger in the library afterwards to further socialize and choose books to take home.
