It is suitable for all ages\, and no registration is required.\nJannette is an award-winning Kentucky Crafted artist travelling from Princeton to present her Native American art\, regalia clothing and music to our library. She is an enrolled member of the Four Winds Confederation\, with a passion for preserving the culture\, history and language of her Cherokee Ancestors\, “ᎠᏂᏴᏫᏯ Aniyvwiya” (The Real People) through her colorful and contemporary art. Jannette’s acrylic paintings on canvas consist of a Cherokee word or phrase illustrated by an image. She enjoys challenging people to think about Native Americans in the present tense\, rather than the past.\nThe Kentucky Arts Council\, the state arts agency\, supports Pike County Public Library District with state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.

DESCRIPTION:tory Time is for children ages 5 and under and features books\, action/movement\, songs\, and a craft. Story Time is held Thursdays at 11:00 and 2:00 and Saturdays at 11:00. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nBesides being fun\, Story Time also helps develop early literacy and school readiness skills through reading\, singing\, listening\, playing\, and social interaction. This program lasts approximately 30 minutes\, and caregivers and children are encouraged to linger in the library afterwards to further socialize and choose books to take home.

SUMMARY:Sound of Plants
DESCRIPTION:The Sound of Plants is an educational performance that harnesses the natural vibrations of plants with a piece of hardware to make live music.\nOver the course of three days\, the presenter will introduce the audience to an array of plants\, the biological processes those plants use to survive\, and their natural music. The class also involves a beginner’s guide to using the PlantChoir application.\nComing consecutively to all three programs is helpful\, though not required. You are welcome to join us for only one session! This program is suitable for all ages. No registration is required.\nThe program will be held Monday\, September 23 at 4:30; Tuesday\, September 24 at 5:30; and Wednesday\, September 25 at 4:30.\nThis workshop is led by Kentucky Teaching Artist Nile Jordan. Combining the principles of biology and electronic music production Nile composes songs to bridge the gap between the arts and sciences. They utilize programs such as PlantLife and Ableton in their curriculum. Due to their background in ecology\, Nile incorporates the outdoors into many aspects of their curriculum. They aim to spread informed knowledge on the diverse flora and fauna of Kentucky.\nThe Kentucky Arts Council\, the state arts agency\, supports Pike County Public Library District with state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.
