SUMMARY:Fiddling From the Hills
DESCRIPTION:Fiddle music in America is as varied as its people. Every geographical area had tunes and styles that were unique to them\, oftentimes based on those locales’ immigrant influences. The same is true of Kentucky fiddling. There are many traditional styles throughout the state. This presentation will focus on the unique and diverse fiddle styles of eastern Kentucky and some of its most noted old-time fiddlers. Presenter Scott Miller\, from the Kentucky Center for Traditional Music\, will play tunes from different regions and demonstrate their unique character and influences and some of the stories that go along with the characters who played them.\nThis virtual presentation is done through Zoom and will be live streamed to the library’s Facebook page on Thursday\, February 23 at 6:00. DESCRIPTION:Book Talks meetings are held every other Tuesday through Zoom. SUMMARY:The Warriors of AniKituhwa
DESCRIPTION:The Appalachian Center for the Arts is excited to host The Warriors of AniKituhwa.  The Warriors are all enrolled members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and are designated official ambassadors.  In this hour-long presentation\, they will bring to life traditional Cherokee war dances meant to celebrate men going off to war.  These dances were also performed as statements endorsing the meeting with other nations in the interest of diplomacy and peace.    The Warriors have performed at Colonial Williamsburg\, the National Museum of the American Indian and throughout the United States.
