Each ballad has been carefully adapted into an original dramatic format\, reimagining these timeless stories through the craft of contemporary theater while honoring their rich cultural heritage. \nDirected by Michael McNulty\, the evening features adaptations of legendary ballads including “Tom Dula\,” “Lord Bateman\,” “The Farmer’s Curst Wife\,” and “The Wreck of the Old 97.” \nThe talented cast includes current students and graduates of UVA’s College at Wise\, alongside renowned ballad singer William Ritter\, with sound effects direction by Rosa Bott. \nExperience the power of Appalachian storytelling in this unique theatrical event that bridges past and present\, honoring our mountain traditions while making them accessible to new generations.
