DESCRIPTION:Join us on the Story Trail to read “If I Had a Dinosaur” by Alex Barrow and Gabby Dawnay as you make your way down the trail for an unforgettable surprise!\nAt the end of the trail\, children will meet an “undiscovered living dinosaur” who has come out of hiding just for this event. With help from the dinosaur’s handler\, kids will learn about animal safety\, how to behave around large animals\, and what it means to treat creatures with kindness and respect. After meeting our prehistoric guest\, children can unleash their creativity by designing and naming their very own dinosaur.\nThis program will be held at the Story Trail\, located at Bob Amos Park\, just below the Overlook Events Center\, on Tuesday\, June 9th at 6:00. Look for our sign at the head of the trail! No registration is required.

DESCRIPTION:Join us on June 12 at 2:00 on Zoom for a virtual author talk with Kimberly Sheeter as she talks more in depth about her novel\, Air-Minded! Air-Minded is a braided novel of early flight: an aviation evangelist builds the system while an assassin exploits it. Their parallel lives trace aviation’s rise from spectacle to infrastructure—and the lives it connects\, and ends.\nMay marked the 125th birthday of pioneering aviator John Paul Riddle. As one of Pikeville’s most remarkable native sons\, he is best remembered for dipping beneath Middle Bridge in his biplane on the 4th of July in 1923. He deserves to be remembered for so much more! He went on to shape every aspect of aviation in America and train 26\,000 Allied pilots during World War II\, including RAF fighters based in Florida.
