What are the rules for foraging on public lands? Can you forage in your own backyard? What do I do with these things once I find them?! This talk covers the answers to these questions and much more. DESCRIPTION:Join us on June 12 at 2:00 on Zoom for a virtual author talk with Kimberly Sheeter as she talks more in depth about her novel\, Air-Minded! Air-Minded is a braided novel of early flight: an aviation evangelist builds the system while an assassin exploits it. Their parallel lives trace aviation’s rise from spectacle to infrastructure—and the lives it connects\, and ends.\nMay marked the 125th birthday of pioneering aviator John Paul Riddle. As one of Pikeville’s most remarkable native sons\, he is best remembered for dipping beneath Middle Bridge in his biplane on the 4th of July in 1923. He deserves to be remembered for so much more! He went on to shape every aspect of aviation in America and train 26\,000 Allied pilots during World War II\, including RAF fighters based in Florida. DESCRIPTION:The library will be transformed into a mini museum with real dinosaur fossils and hands-on science experiments at the Dino Lab! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nYoung paleontologists touch a real dinosaur egg\, a Spinosaurus tooth\, a Triceratops tooth\, and fossilized dinosaur poop. Kids will also discover why the dinosaurs might have gone extinct as we launch a meteorite with a flash. We’ll also float a giant bag filled with “dino breath” above our heads to better understand the average length of a Tyrannosaurus Rex. \n  \nNo registration required.

DESCRIPTION:Dungeons and Dragons Group meets every other Thursday at 5:00 at the Pike County Public Library (Lee Avenue). Beginners and experienced players alike are welcome. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nDungeons and Dragons is a role playing game (RPG) where a single player plays as the Dungeon Master\, creating a world that the players interact with. Players act as a group of adventurers working together to complete quests\, slay monsters\, and achieve their own personal goals. The game uses a series of dice to help simulate how successful characters and monsters are at achieving their various goals.
