This contest is open to current 4-H and FFA members or any student interested in agriculture!\n\n\nSubmit your original photography\, digital\, or hand-drawn artwork that includes the 4-H\, FFA\, and Kentucky Proud logos.\n\n\n Deadline: September 5\, 2025\n $500 cash prize to the winning design!\n Enter at kyagr.com/agfriends\n\n\nThis brand new plate will be available to all Kentucky drivers who want to show their support for agriculture\, not just production farmers. Proceeds will benefit 4-H\, FFA\, and Kentucky Proud programs across the state.\n\n\nThe current Farm License Plate will still be available for eligible farmers\, and we encourage continued renewal of that plate! DESCRIPTION:Blast off on an out-of-this-world adventure at the Story Trail on August 12 at 5:00!\nFamilies will enjoy the book The Space Walk by Brian Biggs while strolling the trail\, searching for hidden stars along the way. At the end of the trail\, decorate a rocket ship to take home. It’s a stellar program that’s sure to spark imaginations. Come take a journey through space with us!\nNo registration required.\nWhat is the Story Trail? – The Story Trail is a quarter mile\, handicapped accessible trail located at Bob Amos Park between the Overlook Events Center and Muddy Boots horse stable. Along the trail are posts that contain pages of a story book that change regularly\, so families can read a story as they walk the trail.\nWhere is the Story Trail? – To best find the Story Trail\, enter the Overlook Events Center into your GPS (891 Bob Amos Dr Pikeville\, KY). The trail is on the road to the Events Center\, just before you come to their parking lot. Look for our sign on the right!

DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Pikeville Farmer’s Market pavillion for a special guest speaker\, Dr. Tamara Horn Potter presenting her book Flower Power: Establishing Pollinator Habitat.Ticket Price: $10– can be paid via paypal: Appalachian Roots Garden ClubOr cash the day of the event\nDr. Tamara Horn Potter is an author and apiarist. From 2008-2014\, she worked at EKU and with coal companies to get pollinator habitat established as a best management practice for reclamation. From 2014-2024\, she served as the KY Dept. of Agriculture State Apiarist\, working with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and Columbia Gas to get pollinator habitat established on highway rights-of-ways. She joined KY State University Land Grant Program as Beginner Beekeeper Coordinator in 2024.\nShe and her husband\, Doug\, manage honey bees at five apiaries in the Bluegrass\, and she’s served on more nonprofit beekeeping boards than anyone should have a right to. Dr. Potter currently served in Kentucky State University Land Grant Program\, and is the author of Bees in America: How the Honey Bee Shaped a Nation (UP of KY\, 2005)\, Beeconomy: What Women and Bees Teach us About Local Trade and Global Economics (UP of KY\, 2012); and Flower Power: Establishing Pollinator Habitat (Wicwas P\, 2019)
