The Pikeville Main Street Program is a non-profit, tax exempt organization governed by an 11 member Board of Directors. The program has existed since 1991 and has a 501c3 status. Our goal is to help Downtown Pikeville continue to be a successful, well-maintained historic district that services citizens, and guests, as well as new businesses. The Program was formed to address the need for revitalization in downtown Pikeville. In conjunction with the Former Governor Paul Patton’s Renaissance on Main Program, the Pikeville Main Street Renaissance Program (PMSRP) will use the Four Point Main Street Approach, which includes Design, Organization, Promotion, and Economic Restructuring.
- Design: Enhancing the visual image of downtown, giving special attention to signs, storefronts, landscapes, displays, and accenting those features that truly make the downtown area unique.
- Organization: Building partnerships with the public and private sectors to develop the untapped potential of the downtown Pikeville/Pike County area, and to solve mutual problems.
- Promotion: To promote a unified message about the downtown by using marketing tools such as Advertising, Grassroots, In-Store Marketing, and Special Events that capitalize and celebrate the unique heritage of Downtown Pikeville.
- Economic Restructuring: Working with existing businesses to retain and expand businesses and to recruit new and desirable businesses that complement the mix of downtown.
Mission
The mission of the Pikeville Main Street Renaissance Program is to revitalize the Pikeville City Business District by utilizing a comprehensive strategy which includes organization, promotion, design, and economic restructuring, within the context of historic preservation.
The Mainstreet program also provides high quality, live entertainment that is free to the public every 1st and 3rd Friday night in downtown Pikeville at the Expo Plaza. Mainstreet Live! is a free outdoor concert series featuring old and new favorites.
