The Historic Downtown Pikeville Walking Tour provides visitors an opportunity to view 53 historic buildings and homes in five historic districts, as listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Pikeville Collegiate Institute now serves as Pikeville City Hall, which is the starting point (118 College Street). Proceed to Kilgore Lane, turn right onto Hambley Boulevard making a left on North Elm Street at the University of
Pikeville. Follow Sycamore Street to the 99 Steps just past Record Memorial. Walking down the 99 Steps, at the bottom, turn left on Hambley Boulevard turning right onto Eighth Street. Take a right onto Scott Avenue to Main Street until you reach the City Park, walk one lap around the outer edge of the park and then go left on College Street to Pikeville City Hall to complete the tour.
The two-mile tour is self-guided and there are some signs along the way. Please note that this path includes strenuous walking and steps. If you are looking for an easier, shorter route, the Downtown Walking Tour is recommended.
