This tour features the original business district for the City of Pikeville. Begin at the Pikeville City Park (corner of Huffman Avenue and College Street). Cross Huffman Avenue at Pikeville United Methodist Church and proceed to Main Street.
You will see the historic federal buildings. Seasonally, you will find free admission to Main Street Live! shows on the first and third Friday of the month. The Eastern Kentucky Exposition Center offers many opportunities for entertainment at 126 Main Street. Stop for a moment and enjoy the Main Street Café with food delivery. You will also see the historic Pike County Courthouse at 146 Main Street. The Yost Building (currently signed as a law office for Roland Case), is one of the original downtown buildings.
Turn left at Pike Street and left again on Second Street. Experience the small-town charm of a Mickey’s. Anderson’s Department Store knows how to treat customers. If you are looking for a special gift or décor, stop by the Art and Gift Shop. You will find more delicious food at Five Star Pizza. Each of these businesses are locally owned and operated.
Second Street will lead back to Huffman Avenue. Turn left to return to return to the church, across the street from the Pikeville City Park.
This self-guided tour consists of ½ mile of easy walking. Free parking is available on the street as posted, in the Pikeville Parking Garage (access from Hambley Boulevard or Huffman Avenue), or in the Riverfill area (accessed through Division Street).
